CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is a national-level entrance examination in India conducted for admission to undergraduate law programmes such as 5-year integrated BA LL.B., BBA LL.B., B.Com LL.B., and other similar courses.


These programmes are offered by the National Law Universities (NLUs) and several other law colleges across India. CLAT is conducted once every year by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs).

Purpose: To select candidates for 5-year integrated undergraduate law programmes after Class 12 (10+2). CLAT scores are used by NLUs and participating law colleges for admission and seat allotment.


Eligibility for UG CLAT (5-Year Law Programme):

  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Minimum required marks in 10+2:
    • 45% for General / OBC / PWD / NRI / OCI / PIO candidates.
    • 40% for SC / ST candidates.
  • Candidates appearing in Class 12 (final year) are also eligible, subject to passing the examination at the time of admission.
  • No upper age limit for appearing in UG CLAT.

PG CLAT 2026 (Post Graduate Common Law Admission Test) is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission into LL.M. (Master of Laws) programmes offered by National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating law colleges in India. The examination is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities.


Purpose of PG CLAT 2026 is conducted for:
